Service Description

Yoga practice offers a natural and safe form of movement for expectant mothers. There are no contraindications during the first trimester when it comes to yoga practice. During this time, the uterus is still safely encased in the pelvis, and the developing embryo is protected from movements and postures of typical yoga classes. For women new to yoga and currently in their first trimester, it's best to start with a yoga practice that focuses on strength-building rather than flexibility. Women in early pregnancy produce relaxin, a hormone that loosens ligaments and joints to facilitate childbirth. Blocks, blankets, and bolsters can provide much needed support.
